THE DOMAIN

Domaine Belle d'Argence, owned by the Aubery family, is a 46-hectare wine estate in the Costières de Nîmes AOP.
Founded in 1980 by Michel and Jeanne Pastouret, it is one of the first estates in France to be certified organic. We showcase its exceptional qualities with our partner Pascal Ferrier and his team, dedicated to our vineyard, our wines, and our consumers.

OUR HISTORY

The Aubery family has deep roots in the south of France. In the 19th century, our ancestors embarked on a long journey, crossing the Atlantic to settle in Martinique, marking a turning point in our family history.

The acquisition of our wine estate represents a return to our roots, combining our spirit of exploration with our desire to reconnect with our origins. By settling in the south of France, we are rediscovering our family roots, while bringing the experiences and influences we acquired in Martinique. This fusion of cultures and traditions enriches our approach to agriculture and viticulture.

Passionate about conservation agriculture, we understand the fragile balance of ecosystems, which strengthens our commitment to sustainable agriculture and respect for biodiversity.

OUR HISTORY

A pioneer in organic wine for over 30 years, our estate is committed to an approach that respects both the land and people.

The vines, located on a protected Natura 2000 site, are cultivated according to organic farming criteria without the use of chemicals. We maintain them with light and regular plowing.

Since 1993, the estate has been producing organic AOP wines certified ECOCERT FR-BIO-01.

TERROIR

The Terre d’Argence takes its name from the Latin expression "Argentia," which evokes the particular brilliance of olive leaves and the shimmering reflections of the many rivers that flow through it. Known as "gress," our soil is characterized by its "rolled pebbles," stones rounded by millennia of river movement. These pebbles accumulate heat during the day and release it at night, promoting harmonious ripening of the grapes while providing a unique minerality often associated with slightly saline notes.

Under this soil, perfectly suited to vines, circulates a layer of water, bringing freshness to the vineyard.

Vine

Located between the Camargue and Provence, our estate enjoys a Mediterranean climate, with generous sunshine, tempered by the Mistral wind from the north and sea spray from the south. The region's traditional grape varieties, such as Syrah, Grenache, and Carignan, as well as a rarer variety, Clairette Blanche de Bellegarde, enrich the diversity of our wines.

WINEMAKING

We pay meticulous attention to every step of the winemaking process. It all begins with a carefully planned harvest to ensure perfectly ripe grapes.

Upon arrival at the winery, the grapes are treated with the greatest care to preserve their qualities. We adhere to the principles of traditional winemaking, but our modern winery, designed as a passive building, regulates itself without the need for additional energy.

Certified organic since 1993, we work with a minimalist approach, limiting inputs as much as possible. We ensure impeccable hygiene at every stage of the winemaking process.

Our organic wines reflect this philosophy, embodying the richness of our terroir and the commitment of our team. Each bottle demonstrates our respect for nature and our quest for quality, perpetuating our family heritage while offering an authentic experience to wine lovers.

OUR VISUAL IDENTITY

Our labels highlight our roots in Terre d'Argence, in the commune of Bellegarde.

They also feature the creations of the talented Martinican artist Ricardo Ozier La Fontaine.

Stimulating our imagination, they evoke a heritage where culture, nature, and travel meet, making each tasting delicious and visually captivating.
